Thermal spas
Visit one of the many thermal spas in the Pomurje region: enjoy the healing effects of drinkable thermal water in Bioterme Mala Nedelja, rejuvenating sauna programmes in Terme Banovci and fun waterslides in Terme 3000, Moravske Toplice.
Fishing
Fishing enthusiasts can test their skills in the many ponds and rivers in the Pannonian Basin. The best carp fishing spot is in Savci, where you can catch carp over 3kg. Lakes Gajsevci and Babinci are great for carp and giant catfish. In Babinci you will also find pike. Mura and Drava rivers are popular for giant catfish, chub and barbel fishing.
Rafting on the Mura river
If you like river adventures, try rafting on Mura, a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in Slovenia. The Mura river, best known for its luscious meadows, is one of the largest and most majestic rivers in Slovenia. You will find operating watermills and cable ferry along its stream.
Wild Swimming
In Pomurje there are several wild swimming spots frequented by the locals. The Drava river is the most fun for families – in Središče ob Dravi you can go down the river rapids, explore side meanders and walk on an island in the middle of the stream. While rafting on the Mura river, you can stop near the floating mills to cool yourself and catch little hopping frogs on the stony banks.
The most popular natural swimming pools are ex gravel pits near Ljutomer and Murska Sobota. The latter has been reorganised into a tourist and sport center Expano, which features a street workout park, a climbing wall and an interactive adventure park.
